KIBOU set open date for Solihull’s new Instagrammable Japanese restaurant
A major refurbishment is under way at a Grade II site in Solihull high street ready for the opening of a brand new restaurant. Japanese kitchen and bar KIBOU will be the newest addition to the town centre’s food and drink scene.
Foodies will be transported to the eclectic streets of Tokyo as the award-winning chain launches its fourth restaurant in the old Café Rouge unit on Monday, April 25. KIBOU will be serving up its signature sushi rolls plus a range of classic and contemporary Japanese dishes – from steaming bowls of ramen to pillowy steamed bao buns and handmade gyoza.
The Solihull site promises to be a hit with social media influencers and food bloggers alike, with its trademark frieze panel murals and projector animations created by talented Gloucestershire artist, Martyna Sabadasz. A marble-decked bar and open sushi kitchen with high top seating will be set against a backdrop of opulent Japanese block print textiles and wall coverings.

KIBOU is best known for its volcano roll – salmon, avocado and tobiko futomaki, tempura fried and served with house sauce. The new eatery will also offer an extensive vegan offering, a range of ‘moriawase’ sharing platters and Japanese-inspired desserts.
The drinks menu will feature signature Japanese cocktails, no-and-low options, a selection of whisky, sake and umeshu, as well as brewed beers and authentic high-balls. The restaurant will seat 70 inside, plus another 25 diners on a Japanese-inspired outdoor terrace.

“Following the successful opening of KIBOU Clifton last October, these are exciting times for the brand, with further acquisitions earmarked for the next 12 months, and a sustained period of growth planned over the next five years.
“The new site will be headed up by accomplished general manager, Justin Davies, who currently co-manages our flagship site in Cheltenham and is extremely well-positioned to oversee the launch and recruit a local team around him.
