A single of the most well known Japanese curry chains in Tokyo is building its way to San Francisco. Barry Louie and Thomas Uehara, who are both equally from Northern California but have used the earlier 25 decades living in Japan, will open up Hinoya Curry this week at 3347 Fillmore St. in the Marina District, according to Eater.

Hinoya Curry is a preferred chain with much more than 60 destinations largely in the Tokyo area — Louie and Uehara imagine it to be the first major Japanese curry model to open up a cafe in the Bay Location. They have been influenced to open a locale listed here soon after observing how preferred curry was in Japan, and saw the prospective for the dish to take off in the US.

“We want to make Japanese curry a lot more mainstream — like ramen or sushi or wonton noodles,” Louie explained to Eater.

Hinoya Curry is slated to open for takeout and outside eating on Saturday, Feb. 13, with a compact menu of curry rice, pork katsu curry, chicken katsu curry and hen karaage more than curry, as well as a range of Japanese beer and sake. The restaurant’s curry will be manufactured of roux blocks transported right from Japan merged with beef broth, cooked for anywhere from 48 to 100 hrs. A extra extensive menu, together with vegetarian choices, is planned for further more down the line.
